Reducing reliance on fossil fuels would also make troops less vulnerable to attack because they would not have to rely on long supply lines getting fuel to the front line, Jens Stoltenberg said.
Mr Stoltenberg said putting solar panels on tanks would be good for the environment and would also increase the resilience of troops on military operations.
“We know that one of the vulnerabilities in any military operation is the supply of fossil fuels along vulnerable supply lines … so if we can make us less dependent on that we are reducing emissions, but at the same time increasing military effectiveness.”

Можно наверное это истолковать так что он напрямую не предложил устанавливать солнечные панели на танки. И то спасибо! Тем не менее, он сделал не менее идиотское заявление:
“We all have a responsibility to do more to combat climate change,” he continued, adding that NATO was well aware of the need to reach net zero.

Например "plans to". Ну планировали-планировали и недопланировали. Упс, не вышло не достигли намеченных рубежей. Бывает. Честная ошибка или недоработка - никакого криинала.
Далее, они всегда могут сказать что переход на продажи "carbon-emissions-free light-duty vehicles" и означает что этот сегмент их бизнеса станет carbon-neutral. Такие заявления очень хороши если надо произвести впечатление на гуманитарных девушек, озеленевших ебанатов или на инвесторов, которым по чартеру полагается вкладывать деньги в ecologically sustainable or socially responsible businesses, т.к. можно будет формально поставить птичку в нужном квадратике.
Но к вожделенной цели net carbon free это всё имеет довольно-таки отдаленное отношение. В лучшем случае вместо сжигания бензина здесь и сейчас будут жечь уголь и газ где-то в другом месте и в другое время.
