The consequences will not just be awful for men. They will be awful for women.

Интересна также попытка рассмотреть ситуацию как случай моральной паники.

Maybe it doesn’t matter where the sources of the present moral panic lie. But could we at least get enough of a grip to realize that it is a moral panic—and knock it off? Women, I’m begging you: Please.

>these "natural" things DO NOT BELONG AT WORK

depends how you define flirtation. if it is simply a friendly conversation - why not. ditto makeup. a little makeup is not considered a violation of any dress code. a lot of makeup, piercings, visible tatoos, orange or purple hair - are violations.

Define "little". Not considered - by whom?

I'm surprised, no - I'm shocked, that you have such totalitarian views.

BTW, my daughter works for a huge advertisement company. Virtually everyone there has piercings and visible tattoos. Consider that.

i personally do not ahave any views on how to dress people.

but every single place i worked at or trained at has a dress code - EXPLICITLY forbidding piercings and visible tatoos. you just are.. unaware of this.

I work for S&P 500 companies for 20+ years, with 1 exception for 1.5 years. Not a single one had an explicit policy of this kind. If there were they would have told me so, as they did re jeans (forbidden but not enforced, especially not on women) and collars (required but not enforced either).

at IBM they used to enforce ties and slacks for engineers until abuot 25 y ago.

when i went to visit IBM with my man, he was waearing shorts and a shirt and sneakers.

in medicine - jeans are forbidden and this is enforced ( if not on weekends), and dress code is explicit and very much enforced. at all levels. the higher levels don't need enforcement. they are already complying.

one place i saw CA obviously did not have a dress code. stanford. i hear now they do, too.

patients - by multiple surveys - don't like white coats period, but htey want to see a "professionally dressed" doctor.
