В общем, получается, что товарищи справа, которые, с самого начала, как бы это помягче, скептически относились к роли ФБР в расследовании кампании Трампа, были в основном правы. Они были неправы в том, что расследование было с самого начала незаконным (о чем радостно трубит пресса), но дальше произошла длинная серия "ошибок". А главный подследственный, Page, оказался агентом ЦРУ, о чем ФБР было сообщено, но они об этом почему-то умолчали когда обращались за FISA warrants.

From the outset, the Justice Department failed to interview several key individuals or vet critical information and sources in the Steele dossier. Justice Department officials insisted to Horowitz that they choose not to interview campaign officials because they were unsure if the campaign was compromised and did not want to tip off the Russians. However, the inspector general report says the Russians were directly told about the allegations repeatedly by then CIA Director John Brennan and, ultimately, President Obama. So the Russians were informed, but no one contacted the Trump campaign so as not to inform the Russians? Meanwhile, the allegations quickly fell apart. Horowitz details how all of the evidence proved exculpatory of any collusion or conspiracy with the Russians.
Even worse, another agency that appears to be the CIA told the FBI that Page was actually working for the agency in Russia as an “operational contact” gathering intelligence. The FBI was told this repeatedly, yet it never reported it to the FISA court approving the secret investigation of Page. His claim to have worked with the federal government was widely dismissed. Worse yet, Horowitz found that investigators and the Justice Department concluded there was no probable cause on Page to support its FISA investigation. That is when there was an intervention from the top of the FBI, ordering investigators to look at the Steele dossier funded by the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign instead.

Date: 2019-12-11 08:50 pm (UTC)Я, конечно, незнаком с внутренней кухней ФБР, но, по-моему, для начала любого расследования необходимо, чтобы кто-то решил, что для расследования есть достаточные основания, и отдал команду (приказал) расследование начать.
И, по-моему, одной из претензий Хоровица как раз было то, что решения принимались на НЕдостаточно высоком уровне.

Я не планировал этого делать, но если вы хотите, то я прочитаю.
Причина, по которой я сам не стал это все читать для самого себя. Хоровиц анализировал были ли причины для начала расследования связей кампании Трампа с Россией, или это был какой-то заговор врагов Трампа.
Ответ в докладе однозначный -- для начала расследования были достаточные основания. А процессуальные подробности меня интересуют мало. Я совершенно не поклонник силовых органов, и легко верю, что в их деятельности есть множество проблем, которые не могли не присутствовать и в данном расследовании.
Ну, и я не могу оценить насколько много или мало 17 ошибок. Я думаю, что если в течении года расследовать любое крупное расследование, то ошибки обязательно найдутся. Будет ли их, в среднем, больше или меньше 17, я не знаю.
Из всего, что я слышал об ошибках, существенным мне видится только FISA application на Пейджа. Но и в этом случае Хоровиц сегодня на слушаниях отказывается сказать, что application не была бы одобрена, если бы ФБР предоставило суду материалы, которые оно должно было, по его мнению, предоставить.
И я согласен с теми, кто предполагает, что, если провести детальное расследование нарушений прав американских граждан при одобрении FISA applications, наиболее egregious ошибки будут в случае подозреваемых в связях с террористами мусульман.
Но, как я уже сказал, та же FISA, в общем случае, беспокоит не правых товарищей, а как раз левых.

Да и сам доклад - отзыв одного человека о работе целой конторы. На моём уровне достаточно этого, тем более что человек производит впечатление объективного.
