Да. Вот, например, рассказ участника:

Вы, вероятно, мало осведомлены о методах подавления восстаний в британских колониях. Как цивилизованные люди, они использовали штыки и виселицы.

В другом месте, но примерно в то же время:

Китай, за исключением Гонконга, не был колонией Великобритании. И присутствие британских войск там ограничивалось военными компаниями.


И да, я в курсе, как англичане подавляли восстания в 19 веке. Точно так же, как и все остальные вокруг. Принято так было. А если еще вспомнить Тюдоров в 15-16 веке.....
Я вам больше скажу: индийские раджи подавляли восстания своих поданных еще более зверски, а китайцы - так вообще.

Я знаю, что Китай не был колонией Англии. Я привел пример грабежа и уничтожения культурных памятников (именно то, чем сейчас ISIS занимается). Кстати, я был в этом дворце (точнее руинах дворца), производит впечатление.

Ну вот именно, поведение "цивилозованных людей" мало отличается от поведения "дикарей", которых они цивилизовывают.
