ny_quantПонятно, что все политики врут во время предвыборной кампании, хотя мы знаем кто в этом виде спорта GOAT. Менее понятно зачем это делать после выборов.
President-elect Donald Trump is threatening to impose sweeping new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China as soon as he takes office as part of his efforts to crack down on illegal immigration and drugs.
The tariffs, if implemented, could dramatically raise prices on everything from gas to automobiles. The U.S. is the largest importer of goods in the world, with Mexico, China and Canada its top three suppliers, according to the most recent Census data.
Trump made the threats in a pair of posts on his Truth Social site Monday evening in which he railed against an influx of illegal migrants, even though southern-border crossings have been hovering at a four-year low.
“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders, ... until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”
“Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power,” he went on, “and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!”

Если его не отговорят оставшиеся в комнате взрослые, то первым результатом будет скачок цен и инфляции, которые американский народ воспримет с полным пониманием. Это ж будет не байденовская инфляция, а хорошая и правильная.

This section was used only in 1979 and 1982, and had not been invoked since the creation of the World Trade Organization in 1995, until President Trump cited it on March 8, 2018 to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum.
Если так, то, по-моему, этот закон как раз позволяет вводить тарифы не по экономическим причинам? Нет ли здесь какой путаницы?

Date: 2024-11-27 01:38 am (UTC)У вас таможня есть, пусть она и работает. Между прочим на выезде из Канады таможни нету, на выезде из США тоже. Есть таможня на въезд. По личному опыту только один раз в 2014 году стояла полиция и проверяла выезжающих из США возле моста через Ниагару.

Для того президент и назначает нового министра, чтобы он зачеркнул неудобные методички своего министерства и издал бы другие (которые он может постепенно редактировать). Если министру нужна будет для этого поддержка в виде executive order, то такая поддержка будет обеспечена.
Трамп, я думаю, хочет себе в этом смысле примерно столько же власти, сколько имел FDR. Так что, можно примерно оценить, что примерно в такую заявку на власть вписывается (и где те границы, где даже нынеший верховный суд взбунтуется; я думаю, что признание фентанила или нелегальных мигрантов угрозой национальной безопасности не вызовет у нынешнего верховного суда особых возражений; Рузвельт ещё и не то успешно пропихивал под предлогом защиты "interstate commerce").
