Democratic Senator Joe Manchin on Monday outlined possible changes to President Joe Biden’s mammoth $2 trillion economic agenda that might draw his support, while lashing out out at White House staff and fellow Democrats for trying to bully him.
Manchin said that he would only support a $1.75 trillion bill that truly overhauls the U.S. tax code to make it fairer and that lowers the cost of a broader array of prescription drugs than the current bill.
Manchin also said that he still wants work requirements for benefits such as expanded child tax credits as well as means-testing so that those making more than $200,000 annually aren’t eligible. He also wants an income cutoff for tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles. Such changes have repeatedly been rejected by progressives in the party.
Manchin’s vision for the child tax credit is at odds with Biden’s pledge to not raise taxes on those earning less than $400,000. Manchin suggested scaling back the tax benefit for those earning between $200,000 and $400,000. He said he didn’t believe that parents who didn’t earn any income should be able to get the credit, a revision that would reverse a change Democrats made to the benefit earlier this year.

(с третьей, остальные демократы - идиоты, если не согласились на его 1.75Т предложение)
но мне кажется, он взял назад согласие даже на то, на что раньше был согласен, из-за последних новостей про инфляцию, которая уже 7-9%, кажется
с еще одной стороны, хорошо, что я, вы и Арбат are on the same page по крайней мере в этом вопросе :)

Я не уверен, что мы в самом деле оn the same page. На самом деле, я не против умеренных дефицитов, грубо говоря так что бы частное долг/ВНП поддерживалось постоянным. Плюс-минус туда-сюда на экономические циклы.
А он, скорее всего, одновременно за сбалансированный бюджет и за трамповское раздувание долга, потому что это другое.

а "оn the same pagе" я имел ввиду конкретно в этом вопросе, про план ВВВ и Манчина, а в целом, понятно, не на одной

ну, я у него в голове не сидел, но думаю, не совсем так, а скорее
1) за сбалансированный бюджет
2) лучше всего этого достичь уменьшением трат
(с этими пунктами я согласен, и подозреваю, вы тоже)
3) если президент траты уменьшить не может, то надо увеличить приход, но не повышать налоги
(это хорошо бы, но трудно, а может, и невозможно)
из чего получается у Арбата
4) пусть хотя бы налоговую ставку понизит, тогда хотя бы есть шанс, что экономика вырастет, и налогов соберется больше
(вот в это я не очень верю, а вы, наверное, тем более)
А Трамп мне в этом смысле не нравится тем, что он как раз расходы не уменьшил, а увеличил - как "свои" на оборону, так и "левые", чтобы они ему утвердили военные расходы
(вот как раз пример той позорной "би-партизанщины")
