Один из наиболее ярких аналитиков Уолл Стрита Чарли МакЭллиготт предупреждает, что если произодет какой-нибудь неприятный сюрприз, например завтрашний CPI (сегодняшнего PPI не хватило), то рынок может серьёзно упасть, а волатильность взлететь как в 2018.

Действительно, VIX идет наверх уже четвертый день подряд хотя индекс SPX/SPY до сегодняшнего дня потихоньку рос. Тем временем, цены на Treasuries растут. Сразу по нескольким показателям рынок находится около all time highs. Как-то тревожно.

From my experience, almost every time I sell something in a significant way, I regret it later.

Same here except last spring. I was happy for a while and then I regretted it as always.

Ha, it is exactly what happened to me in spring 2000. I sold (thankfully not too much) with impeccable timing and then completely failed to buy back as the markets shot up.

I figured I am done trying to time these things (famous last words :)

P.S. Correction :2020! Why did I write 2000? But maybe same thing happened then as well, I just don't remember well.

I did it both times. In 2000, I sold too early and bought back too early but overall I did OK, just not as well as I hoped. From that experience I concluded, wrongly, that I'm smart enough to play this game.

Yup. Even if one is smart enough to sell at the right time, good luck timing getting back in the market right.

иногда стреляет случайно -- мой бывший шеф первый раз в жизни купил НАСДАК пут-опционы на год (с исполением на 2500) летом 2000 года, когда НАСДАК был около 4000 ... в принципе, сразу после весны 2001 он купил себе "домик" :)
