Lies, damn lies and lies on national TV

“Anyone who has watched this videotape, I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama to watch these tapes. Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.’ This is about the character of our nation, and if we will not stand up and force President Obama to veto this bill, shame on us.” — Carly Fiorina, GOP presidential debate, September 16, 2015.
Fiorina’s description of what takes place in the videos has come under withering attack. Sarah Kliff of Vox labels Fiorina’s version of the scene as “pure fiction.” PolitiFact says it is “mostly false.” And they have a point. The exact scene, exactly as Fiorina describes it, is not on the videos.

Date: 2015-09-30 02:50 am (UTC)

the link you quoted implies that the video insert of the fetus has nothing to do with the PP. it was inserted just to illustrate the narrative, similar to Cecil the Lion and some unknown lion that have been used for illustration.
i would agree that it disqualifies the video, but i do not see how it disqualifies Fiorina
she pretty accurately describes what is on the video.
- fetus that looks alive
- the voice and the image of the tech describing the procedure
again - what's wrong?

Date: 2015-09-30 11:23 am (UTC)The third Human Capital video has stock footage of a fetus kicking on a table — though that footage isn't from inside a Planned Parenthood. The video cites the Center for Bioethical Reform and the Grantham Collection as the sources for that footage, and never claims to have taped those images themselves.
There is no video of the images that O'Donnell describes seeing, nor is there any mention of instructions to "keep it alive so we can harvest its brain," so it's still not the footage Fiorina describes having watched.

Gregg Cunningham is the founder of the anti-choice Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, which collects stock footage of fetuses so all the other anti-choice fetus fetishist perverts can use the graphic imagery to say, “See, abortion is gross!” On Monday, he released to TIME the 13-minute video from which this supposed aborted fetus footage was taken. Cunningham insists that this is definitely a video of an abortion, but if you watch the video — which, yes, is graphic (TRIGGER WARNING FOR GORY BLOODY VAGINA DELIVERING A TINY PREMATURE FETUS) — it does not look like an abortion at all. It looks like a miscarriage
