Т.е. когда надо брать деньги, Пентагон совсем даже неплохая организация. Но не тогда, когда есть необходимость его раскритиковать. Можно это конечно называть и балансом, я предпочитаю другое слово.
Ключевой аспект - есть ли связь между финансированием, и автономным формированием мнения. Это обыкновенный файервол. Как аналогия, Ваша фраза полностью применима к понижаемому кредитному рейтингу итп., оплаченному корпорацией, с единственной заменой "Пентагон" на название клиента. Или к отношениям рекламодателя и журналиста.
