Jim Skea, the new head of the UN's IPCC climate panel, said it was not helpful to imply that temperature increases of 1.5 degrees Celsius posed an existential threat to humanity.

The world won't end if it warms by more than 1.5 degrees," Skea told Der Spiegel. "It will however be a more dangerous world."

Surpassing that mark would lead to many problems and social tensions, he said, but still that would not constitute an existential threat to humanity.

Sure. Somebody in a specific region may benefit and somebody in another (or even the same one, people's preferences differ) may suffer, I am not going to agree to change my life drastically for a feeble chance of affecting it. I said this before: if we could move countries twice both times by thousands of km so can others - as long as they are not extremely poor. Hence this is the main task for the next 20-30-50 years of projected warming: avoid making people poorer to start with.
