Я вообще не понимаю проблемы. Ну кто-то у кого-то что-то спрашивает. На эти вопросы можно отвечать правду, отвечать неправду, отвечать в шутку или вообще игнорировать.

Почему это должно вызывать интерес полиции, если спрашиваемые по какой-то непонятной причине считают необходимым "обижаться" на этот вопрос?

If you start harassing other customers in a restaurant, you will be kicked out quickly. Same with the airline, you have no right to harass other passengers and if you refuse to leave, you will be arrested.
