На правительственном сайте https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/jamaica.html написано, что «Generally, all U.S. citizens are required to present a valid U.S. passport when traveling to Jamaica» так что погранцы точно знали, что имеют дело с гражданином США.

? how is Ali-son and his mamma are xenophobia-provoking ? islamic dress perhaps. however SO MANY in islamic dress are going through customs daily, and only ALi Jr. was detained?

dunno. a strange story including asking abut religionm, if the dress is islamic, why ask. plus, for citizens, this is a violation of their rights.

interestingly my friend who by profession should know better was completely sure that foreigners and green crd holders have equal constitutional protection at ports of entry as citizens do. she is so wrong. even citizens may be subject to questioning, UPON DISCRETION of an immigration officer. but they hav a right to a layer right away others - do not, and cannot refuse to answer, or if they do they actually face a prison term. i am serious.
