And this is exactly why this country will eventually fail and fall. When an attempt to subvert an election by storming the Capital building, threatening to hang the VP, and attempting to block the legitimate constitutional process of counting the electoral votes is considered by "ordinary people" to be no big deal, then everything else that makes up democracy in this country is up for grabs. It turns out, in this instance, that democracy doesn't mean so much to "ordinary people," and they will welcome authoritarianism in its place. Seems like democracy no longer means so much to Mr. Stephens anymore as it does to "ordinary people." This column is no more than a shrugging of shoulders and responsibility.
