Fair point about public transportation or solar panels but willingness to pay extra taxes shouldn't be affected by location.

The republicans are in general more negative on taxes. Hard to know how much of it is specifically related to the climate change issue.

IC vs EV vehicles?

I could very well be the result of where most republicans live as opposed the democrats. Rural areas are going to probably be less willing to adopt an EV-powered lifestyle, especially considering that many of them drive pickup trucks and they frequently have to tow trailers. I looked into getting an F150 Lightning. It’s effing EXPENSIVE and it experiences a significant drop in range when towing.

That’s kind of beside the point. I don’t tow often, mmmmmaybe once every three months or so.
However, the point is that I have to have the *ability* to tow, and therefore it limits me to larger EVs which are hella expensive.

F150 lightning *starts* at 70k; whereas the dinosaur burning one can be had for 35k.Half the price!

Если важно иметь такую ability то конечно. А я, к примеру, никогда в жизни этого не делал и дальше не планирую. Вообще, для местных целей всегда можно вызвать ААА или еще какой сервис. I mean, there is no real need for that, for most people.

В городе безусловно. Я даже более скажу — в городе владение пикапом это жутко неудобно, такую баржу надо где-то парковать, и на городских улицах к ее размерам привыкаешь не сразу.

Но в деревне владельцев пикапов намного больше, и необязательно даже из-за прицепов — банальные доски привезти или там десять мешков цемента и подобное тупо проще.

И если для небольших автомобилей варианты EV есть, и даже не за окончательно конские деньги, то с пикапами уже дело туго.

Хочу признаться что я не знал что F150 можно купить за 35К. По сравнению с 70К за электрическую версию это конечно no brainer.

Что же касается нужд деревенских жителей, то не знаю. Я и сам живу за городом. Иногда нужна большая машина, это правда, но это совершенно не повод ей владеть, имхо.

As pointed out above, it is also unreliable. I think a lot of it depends on what your friends/neighbors drive.

Не знаю на счет таксов, если бы была уверенность что их не растащат, а потратят на что то реально полезное.... Что же касается желания платить больше за электричество, поверив, что деньги идут на благое дело, то прямо сейчас можно позвонить в биллинг своей кампании-провайдера электричества, и они с радостью переключат вас на более дорогой "зеленый" тариф. Кстати переключиться потом назад значительно сложнее. По крайней мере, в наших краях и с нашим ConEdison дела обстоят именно так.
