Here's how it works. They check in your bag but you don't receive it at the destination. They tell you that the bag was taken out of the plane for unknowns reasons but they will put it on the next plane and deliver it to you by the end of the day. For free! But they don't. Each call the their "resolution center" is an hour on hold. In the end, you get to speak to a very apologetic Indian who has no idea why your bag it's still at you departure point but promises that it will be sent by the next plane and his supervisor will call me first thing tomorrow with explanations. Of course, both are lies. Eventually you give up realizing that your bag is actually lost and go shopping to buy basic necessities. Then you get a text in the middle of next night that your bag is delivered to the hotel.

Вот точно так у меня и было после перелета Мельбурн-ЛА-NY. Пришлось быстро покупать туфли-костюм-рубашки-ремень-галстук. А в 1.30 ночи на второй день привезли...

Удалось ли выбить какие-то деньги в порядке компенсации?

Из компании - нет. Была страховка - там удалось.

В Европе есть очень неплохой сайт по выбиванию компенсаций из авиакомпаний Airhelp. Моя дочь как-то выбила долларов четыреста за опоздание от Austria Airlines.

В Европе правила другие - там, по крайней мере для своих (EU) можно стребовать. А Штатах и прочих Австралиях - только страховка.

Ну справедливости ради - мой багаж теряла Люфтганза, Свисс и проч. А вот Юнайтед - ни разу. И каждый раз когда я им пишу жалобу по любому поводу - они мне дают travel voucher на пару сотен долларов.

Попробуйте, хуже не будет. Гитары они ломают только в песнях.
