This is an example of using a standard piece of the leftist tactics. Whatever is not 100% perfect is declared (or implied) to be unacceptable. Yes, Truman was not a Zionist. But he was a decent person, and he clearly demonstrated this in the story with the creation of Israel. The State Department opposed creation of Israel since 1920. And, during the time of Truman, he was essentially the only person in the US government who was for it - but the key person, of course. Given the circumstances, he did great.
I understand that he basically did not want to hear any discussion about creation of the State of Israel as he got tired of listening to the arguments from the both sides, and the issue did not seem to be of a great importance for this country. Yet Jacobson, who was his old buddy, convinced him to meet with Weizmann. The latter managed to convince Truman to support the creation of Israel. Did he not decide to go against the whole American establishment and support the Jewish state, it would not be in existence today.
так у трумэна примерно такая же была задача, только чтобы республика была не социалистическая. и желательно еще было так эту республику организовать, чтобы все свои евреи туда не убежали не дай бог. получилось.
